Dr.(Mrs.).Celestina Jayasingh is the recipient of Sri Ramana’s ‘Best Teacher Award’ sponsored by Nehru Yuva Kendra Award, Government of India (2006). Mrs. Sriranjini Hridhayanathan, Lecturer (SG), Department of English has been honoured with Annai Aravinder ‘Best Teacher Award’ for Social Service and Extension Services (2006). Mrs. Sriranjini Hridhayanathan, Lecturer (SG), Department of English has also been complemented with membership in the Board of Management, Institute of People’s Education under the Aegis of Matha Amirthananthamaye Mutt, sponsored by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India (2006). Dr. Hasan Fatima, Department of Tamil was honoured as by Sivakasi Arts Club and Mrs. Arul Michael Selvi was awarded the title by , Thanjavur. (2006) Mrs. S. Sivadevi, Lecturer (S.G), Department of Physics has the honour of the only short-listed participant, for the Talent Quest – 2006 organized by the Indian Physics Association and National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad; and has received Encouragement Award in a meeting at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai. Mrs. R. Selva Priya, Lecturer, Department of Physics has been awarded the “Best Talented Teacher” in “National Physics Talent Quest - 2007” organized by Indian Physics Association, Mumbai on 24.1.08. Dr.(Mrs).M.Jayalakshmi, Lecturer in commerce has received a Outstanding Service in the field of Education by Y’s Mens Club, Sivakasi. Mrs.M.Sowthamani, Department of Chemistry has been awarded “The Best Youth Red Cross Programme Officer” from Tamil Nadu Red Cross Society, Chennai on 12/08/2008. Mrs.M.Iraivani, Lecturer Department of Tamil, presented a paper on has been chosen as the best paper by All India University, Tamil Teachers Association,Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 250/- Mrs. K.P.Radha, Associate Professor of Physics presented a paper on “Novel Polyvinyl Alcohol – NHF Proton conducting Polymer Electrolyte” at an International Conference on “Emerging Technologies in Renewable Energy 2010” Anna University, Chennai. Mrs.N.Vijaya, Head, Department of Physics and Mrs. K.P.Radha, Associate Professor of Physics presented posters in the 12^th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics, Wuhan, P.R. China. Mrs.N.Vijaya presented her poster on the “Study of PVP : Ammonium Chloride Polymer Electrolyte” and Mrs. K.P.Radha on “Structural Vibrational and Conductivity Studies of Ammonium Flouride doped polymer electrolyte” and “Dielectric Studies of PVA “ Ammonium Flouride polymer electrolytes.” Mrs.V.Annapackiam, Lecturer in Tamil presented a paper on in an International Seminar organized by the Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi and the paper has been published in the book Dr.K.Rajeswari, Head, Department of Commerce and Mrs.V.Vishnu Priya, Lecturer in Commerce, Dr.M.Jayalakshmi, Associate Professor of Commerce and Mrs.K.Sounthara Priya, Lecturer, Department of Commerce presented papers on “Indian Granite Stone Industry – An Overview” and “Export Oriented Printing Units – SWOT Analysis” at a National Level Seminar sponsored by TANSCHE at IQAC, V.H.N.S.N.College, Virudhunagar. Mrs.J.Sobhana Devi, Assistant Professor of English and Mrs.K.Rama Jayalakshmi, Lecturer in English presented papers in a National Seminar on “Voices from the New Millennium Writers” organized by the Department of English and Research Centre, Sarah Tucker College, Tirunelveli. Mrs.J.Sobhana Devi presented a paper on “No Longer a Male – defined World but a Female Constructed World: A Study of Margaret Atwood’s Lady Oracle” and Mrs.K.Rama Jayalakshmi on “Liberation of Women from the Patriarchal Injustice in Shashi Deshpande’s The Binding Vine”. Mrs. N.Vijaya, Head, Department of Physics presented a paper on Vibrational and Ionic Conductivity Studies on PVP based Solid Polymer Electrolyte at the 11th International Conference on Frontiers of Polymers and Advanced Materials, IIT, Delhi. Mrs. E.Ponmalar, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science presented a paper on Improving wavelet based image compression using neural networks on detailed coefficients in an International conference on Emerging Trends in Mathematics and Computer Applications at Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi. Mrs.V.Ramya, Assistant Professor, Department of History presented a paper on Science and Technology and Human Rights and Duties at a Two day UGC sponsored National Conference on Human Rights, Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women, Periyakulam. Mrs.J.Sobhana Devi, Assistant Professor of English and Mrs.K.Rama Jayalakshmi, Lecturer in English presented papers on Degradation of Women in Margaret Atwood’s Life Before Man and Quest for Identity in Shashi Deshpande’s The Roots and Shadows respectively at the UGC sponsored National Seminar on Globalization and Marginalization conducted by the Department of English, Vellalar College, Erode. They also presented papers on Reaching the Unreached strategies in Teaching English to Rural students and The Recent Trends and Techniques in Teaching English in a UGC sponsored National Seminar on Issues and Challenges in Teaching English to Rural Students held at Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi. Sweetlyn Joy Christy, Lecturer in Commerce, published their article entitled Insurance underwriting and Riders in Life Insurance Today- December 2010 edition. Dr.M.Padma Priya, Lecturer in Tamil published a book entitled published by Paavai publication , Chennai, ISBN:81-7735-878.2 Articles of Dr. M.Jayalakshmi, Associate Professor of Commerce, Mrs.m.Uma Rani, Associate Professor of Commerce, Dr.T.Palaneeswari, Associate Professor of Commerce and Mrs.R. Goga Priya, are prescribed as texts in the book Women’s Studies – ISBN No.978-93-5024-629-0. Dr.M.Jayalakshmi is one of the editors of the book.

Mrs.P.Selvarathy, HOD of Botany, was awarded Ph.D on 22.8.2009 by the M.K.University. Mrs.R.Sulochana Kumari, Associate Professor, Dept of History, was awarded Ph.D on 8.1.2010 by the M.K.University. Mrs.Padma Priya, Assistant professor in Dept. of Tamil and Mrs.S.Veeralakshmi, Lecturer in Dept. of Tamil were awarded Ph.D by the M.K.University<
Major Research Projects
A financial assistance of Rs.10, 88,300 has been sanctioned to Dr.J.Kasthuri, Assistant Professor, Dept of Zoology for a Major Research Project entitled “Management of metallic pollutants with biosorption technology”. The period of the project is from 2008 to 2011. UGC has sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs.2,71,000/- to Dr.K. Rajeswari, Head, Department of Commerce in May 2009 for a Major Research Project entitled “Global Financial Crisis and its impact on Indian Insurance Industry with reference to Life Insurance in Virudhunagar District.” Indian Council of Social Science Research (Ministry of Human Resource Development), New Delhi has sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs.4, 32,150/- to Dr.K.Rajeswari, Head Department of Commerce, for a Major Research Project entitled Rural Women Empowerment through Life Insurance Agency-An Empirical study.
Minor Research Projects
UGC has sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs.1,30,000/- towards a Minor Research proposal entitled Education Status of Dalit Women in Tamil Nadu. This proposal has been submitted by Dr.B. Ponni, Dept of Tamil in January 2009. A financial assistance of Rs.1,80,000 has been sanctioned to Mrs.K.P Radha, Dept of Physics for a Minor Research Project entitled “Development of PVA based polymer membrane of Fuel Cell” in September 2009. UGC has sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs.95,000 towards a Minor Research Proposal entitled “Studies on the Photcatalytic degradation of Dyes from aqueous Solutions of Their binary Mixture using Synthesised Zinc Oxide Nano Particles”. This proposal has been submitted by Dr.Mrs.S.Shanthi, Department of Chemistry. A financial assistance of Rs.1,02,000 has been sanctioned to Dr.G.Valli, Dept.of Chemistry for a Minor Research Project entitled “Isolation of antimicrobial Compounds from Medicinal Plants and their DNA Binding Studies” in August 2010. A financial assistance of Rs. 40,000 has been sanctioned to Mrs.Sudha Periathai, Dept. of Physics for a Minor Research Project entitled “X-ray crystallography, FTIR, Ft-Raman & vibrational investigation on organic complexes” in August 2010. A financial assistance of Rs.80,000 has been sanctioned to Dr.S.Manimekalai, Dept. of English for a Minor Research Project entitled “Voice of The Voiceless in a Trans-Cultural Milieu” in August 2010. A financial assistance of Rs.1,00,000 has been sanctioned to Mrs.S. Vijayakumari , Dept. of Physical Education for a Minor Research Project entitled “Effect of Yoga and Kung Fu on Physiological and Physical Fitness Variables of College Women Students” in August 2010. A financial assistance of Rs.1,15,000 has been sanctioned to Mrs.V.Ramya, Dept of History by UGC , for a Minor Research Project entitled “Press and Public Opinion on Gandhian Movements in Tamil Nadu, 1920-1947.
